Brambles Bed and Breakfast - Tiverton - Reviews - Page 7.
Hotel | Bed and Breakfast | Accommodation | Tiverton | Devon
- I have copied you in on the report I sent to Trip Advisor earlier today. It reads We (a couple in our seventies) needed to find a Bed & Breakfast establishment in Devon near Tiverton. Preferably one out in the country, and preferably one which made purchasing a breakfast (menu) optional. This establishment met our requirements ideally. It is set amidst beautiful countryside, but also very handy for the M5 and various A roads. We opted not to have breakfast (menu) solely in order to save time each morning, as we had a heavy visiting schedule over the course of five days, sizeable distances to cover, and a wish to be back at Brambles usually before darkness descended - we were in Devon in early October. For my wife and I, the acid test for any hotel or guest house is how, having experienced one night and morning of staying there, we feel about returning to it for further nights. The Brambles passed this crucial test handsomely. The owners' detailed, written advice (sent in advance) to take the slightly longer route from the M5 to reach their premises, thereby having more passing places available on typical Devon lanes, was very good advice. By following it, we had no problems at all, even at night time. Their directions as to the route to follow, and the one to consider avoiding (despite satnavs liking to suggest it) worked very well. As we headed 'home' each evening after longish days out, we looked forward to returning to our room: one of three located in the 'out houses' rather than in the main building. Our positive frame of mind stemmed from several important factors. 1 Parking at the premises was easy and convenient. No concerns there at all. No need to hurry back in order to be sure of a parking spot. We WERE sure of one, even when all guest rooms were occupied, no matter at what time we returned. 2 We knew after Day 1 that we would be returning to a comfortable room which would have been serviced to a high standard during our time out of it. This remained true throughout our 5-night stay. We arrived back each evening to surroundings which were warm and felt welcoming, not least because of the wide range of sachet drinks and packeted biscuits awaiting us, but also because of the excellent wi-fi facility, the high quality TV picture on a TV set which also offered a DVD facility, the easily-operated shower, the attractive decor, and the very comfy bed; we like them to be on the firm side. We had only one chair between us but now know that a second chair would have been available had we asked for it, and we didn't. It makes sense to make its provision an option, given that many folk enjoy sitting on a bed, and having only one chair in the rooms allows for extra circulation space. 3 In the light of a new morning, the view from the garden area outside our room was splendid. We made a point of finding time to admire it. 4 Having met the owners early on and having sensed the warmth of the welcome and their eagerness to please, we knew we could turn to them with confidence for any reason had we needed to. We did not need to. We felt we received very good value for money and would happily return. For a couple like us, and with National Trust membership. One good day out by car is to head first to Arlington House (National Trust) then to the Lynton and Barnstaple Railway, and then to Porlock Weir, where good food is available at a choice of hotels, inns and restaurants, together with some pleasant seaside and woodland walks. About 130 miles in total, depending on route taken.
- Thanks for a most welcome break. Lovely comfortable accommodation and tasty breakfast (menu). At the Redwoods Inn (Uplowman, Tiverton) pub, turn right. There's no sign for Whitnage on the signpost!. Then after 3/4 of a mile, Brambles is on the right.
- Clean, welcoming, great bed, excellent breakfast (menu).
- A lovely b&b, the accommodation was spacious with a good ensuite shower. What a selection of drinks and snacks! I would not hesitate to recommend to a friend or colleague. Really good breakfast (menu). Pub within walking distance but do take the torch provided. Nice traditional feel with good food and beer.
- Lovely place. Lovely hosts. Lovely breakfast (menu). Would definitely recommend.
- We enjoyed our stay very much. All was perfect! Thank you for making us so welcome.
- I have stayed in a lot of b&bs over the years, this is Top of the tree, the very best.
- Stunning location, delightful accommodation beautifully equipped and with character. Hosts very welcoming and friendly, excellent breakfast (menu) and a perfect stop off for our journey to Cornwall. We would definitely recommend this gem of a b&b! Don't forget the torch, which is provided, when you walk to the local pub like we did! Also, definitely follow the property directions provided by the hosts.
- Whenever I need to stay in this area Brambles is my first port of call. Lovely setting, accommodation, service and breakfast (menu). I would recommend to all the Hickory Inn (Halberton, Tiverton) lovely food and excellent service.
- A wonderful stay at Brambles - thank you so much Alison and David! Our accommodation was lovely, so comfortable, breakfast (menu) was incredibly tasty, and the location is splendid - so peaceful and idyllic! We shall be telling our friends and family and will definitely return if we find ourselves near Tiverton again.
- A warm welcome from David and Alison! Our accommodation was really cosy and gave us lovely views over the surrounding countryside. The cooked breakfast (menu) was excellent. A great way to break our journey to Cornwall, in the peace and quiet of a Devon hamlet yet just three miles from the M5 motorway. The Redwoods Inn (Uplowman, Tiverton) pub is very handy and accommodating for an evening meal.
- Couldn't have been any better Alison and Dave couldn't have done any cleaner beautiful helpful and will be definitely coming back breakfast (menu) amazing don't need lunch. Just ask Dave and Alison so helpful and polite and proud of their area.
- I enjoyed my stay here very quiet location. An excellent breakfast (menu).
- Professional and friendly with rooms well furnished. Excellent breakfast (menu). Clear directions from the M5 motorway (Junction 27) to the nearby premises, (& return to M5). National Trust properties nearby, local Redwoods Inn (Uplowman, Tiverton) provides good evening meal, (within walking distance).
- Very nice and thank you.
- Very friendly welcome ample parking and level of comfort and facilities very good. Would definitely use again. Local pub does excellent home cooked food.
- Extremely welcoming hosts - nothing was too much trouble. Particularly enjoyed the food at the Ganges Indian restaurant in Tiverton.
- Very good all around. Food at the local pub was good.
- Friendly, excellent hospitality tray and breakfast (menu). Lovely towels and everything you would need in your room, with good space. Made do with the hospitality tray so didn't need to go out and got a good night’s sleep for our ongoing journey.
- Great hosts, great breakfast (menu).
- As the directions explain, Brambles is tucked away down tiny Devon lanes, though only a few miles from the M5 motorway. Rooms are thoughtfully equipped with generous snacks and refreshments. There are beautiful views from the garden across the valley and lovely walks straight from the house.
- Great accommodation - peaceful and comfortable, and very reasonably priced for the standard - and the nice deep bath was appreciated at the end of long day. David and Alison couldn't have been more welcoming and even managed to help me find my next b&b at short notice (if only I could have stayed longer at Brambles!).
- Lovely stay, very welcoming host and lovely accommodation with a very comfortable bed. Would definitely recommend to friends or family visiting the Cullompton, Tiverton and Wellington area.
- One of the very best b & bs I’ve ever stayed at. Friendly welcome, beautifully appointed, spotlessly clean, comfortable and easy parking. Highly recommended...
- We only stayed here one night on our way down to Cornwall. However, Brambles gave us a very welcome break on our way, and we hope to return xxx
- Had a great stay here after they helped me out over a booking error at another Tiverton Hotel. The location is rural and hence quiet but a pleasant hamlet away from the bustle of town. The satnav advice works well. Hosts were lovely and if I am in the area will definitely return. The pub is a 10 min walk and has a great range of foods and drinks. When you approach from the small lane and you start to enter the hamlet probably the small red brick "church" on you left is your best landmark to reference Brambles on the right, there is also a green external light if you are arriving in the dark. Also, If you like hills there is a footpath behind the church that that gives you great views of the area when you top the small hill.
- Lovely, friendly hosts who go way beyond what is expected. Lots of nice touches in the rooms with plenty of hot drinks to make for yourselves. Breakfast 10/10!
- This is an excellent b & b, particularly if you like a rural location. The property has a beautiful garden with far-reaching views, so it was lovely to sit out in the evening and enjoy the peace and tranquillity - although there can be some noise from the distant A361 when the wind is in the wrong direction. Alison and David are very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. The accommodation is well equipped and with an amazing assortment of teas, coffees etc. The breakfast (menu) was generous and beautifully cooked. The local pub, the Redwoods Inn (Uplowman, Tiverton), is within walking distance, although we preferred to drive as the lane is narrow in places, but really recommend it for a meal, there is a good choice on the menu, available at reasonable prices.
